Campers will spend the week learning how to become Fire Tenders and prepare for epic wilderness adventures! They’ll learn to build a fire, identify and harvest edible and medicinal plants, and cook over an open fire.

We’ll teach knife safety and best practices for becoming master firemakers. Campers will connect with their fellow as they support each other in learning and practicing their skills.

Campers will enjoy:

  • Harvesting and crafting their personal bow-drill kit
  • Building, engaging, and tending fire
  • Identifying and harvesting wild edibles
  • Learning the safe use of knives as tools
  • Enjoying fun adventures off-trail
  • Connecting with new friends!

Fire and Food:

This program goes deeper into skills and training than our standard Survival Skills Day Camp by offering:

  • Lessons in ancestral fire-making using the friction fire method (campers will have the opportunity to create their own bow drill kit)
  • Extensive lessons in foraging, plant identification, ethical harvesting, and hunting
  • An entire week together to receive more elaborate lessons in all of the survival skills we teach
