Wilderness Awareness Family Courses

We are very proud to offer Family Courses to allow children and the adults in their lives the chance to work together on projects and skills, as well as to share experiences, stories and laughter. (See upcoming courses)

Our experienced instructors provide time for adults and children to learn side by side, as well as nature activities to engage youth and adults separately. In addition to observation and outdoor skills, each Family Course also includes tips and lessons on mentoring. It's perfect if you were looking for a child nature activity to do at home.

For parents of children who participate in our Youth Courses or Summer Camps, these courses are an excellent way to begin to experience the understanding and appreciation of nature that your children have already discovered.

For parents considering enrolling their children, these low-cost courses also provide an excellent chance for your family to sample the fun and adventure that awaits everyone through Wilderness Awareness School's diverse course selection.

Our family courses cost $25 per adult and $25 per child. All locations have an indoor space and bathrooms available for use by the class.

The curriculum of Family Courses is geared towards children and adults age 6 and older. However, younger children are welcome as long as parents are aware of this aspect of the course, and are especially attentive to the needs of their younger children and the group.

Seeing Through the Eyes of the Birds

Join us to hear the stories of the forest as told to us by the birds. Together we will listen to the birds and animals, learn the language that they all speak, and find the fun and adventure that is around every bend!

NOTE: 'Family' Courses imply that at least one adult and one child are present from each family. We require registration and payment at least one week prior to the class if possible so that we may obtain needed materials. Please bring your own snacks or lunch.
