Wilderness Awareness Overnight Camps
Ages 11-14

Overnight camps give students exciting camping experiences while learning in-depth skills of survival and nature awareness. They are filled with adventure and surrounded by the beauty and comfort of a private basecamp in the forested foothills of the Cascades.

Survival Skills Overnight

This five night camp is focused on learning the basics of wilderness survival skills while practicing them daily. Students will have opportunities to practice fire making, carving, shelter construction, and primitive cooking, and may choose to create their own fire kit and spoon or bowl to take home! Participants will also have the opportunity to sleep in shelters they have constructed. Knife safety and sharpening will be covered.

Scout Awareness Overnight

A five-night camp devoted to developing the awareness of the ancient scouts of many cultures who were deeply connected to the natural world. Through adventures with wildlife tracking and “bird language” we create greater awareness of all that is around us. Games requiring the stealth of a scout teach techniques of blending in and moving quietly to allow closer observation of nature. Participants in this camp will likely never see nature the same way again!
