Campus & Facilities

Wilderness Awareness School's office and land which houses our campus are based in Duvall, Washington, which is located in the greater Puget Sound region and nestled in the Snoqualmie River Valley about 30 miles northeast of Seattle. Most Duvall residents (including much of our staff) live East of town in a predominantly rural/ forested setting at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Nearby communities include Carnation, Monroe, Fall City, and Snoqualmie.

Linne Doran - our land

Our Land and Campus Facilities

Our land is called Linne Doran (Gaelic for "Pond of the Otter"), and consists of over 20 acres of mature and second growth forest as well as the area's namesake pond and wetlands. The campus is adjacent to the large forest lands of the Cascade foothills, just west of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area. Get directions to Linne Doran.

Cedar Lodge

Classroom Facilities at Linne Doran include "Cedar Lodge," our new classroom building and gathering hall which houses the Ingwe Library and also has four apartments for students in our Residential Program on the second floor; "The Wolf Den," our 30 foot modern yurt; and "Malalo Ya Chui" (which means "Lair of the Leopard"), a more rustic 20 foot structure modeled after an African Akamba hut, built to honor School co-founder, Ingwe.

Day trip locations from our campus often include riparian sandbars along the Skykomish and Snoqualmie Rivers, our many great local parks, the high Cascades, and the desert-like shrub-steppe ecoystems of Eastern Washington.
